Nordplus Higher Education program

MultiNEC –

The MultiNEC network was established in Riga, Latvia on February 2013, during the Nordplus Adult Preparatory visit. The participants include higher education institutions and NGO. Latvia is represented by Riga Medical College of the University of Latvia, Latvian Academy of Sports Education, and Latvian Association of Occupational Therapists. The southernmost partner is Lithuanian Sports University, Finland is represented in the network by Satakunta University of Applied Sciences and the Swedish partner in MultiNEC network is University of Gavle. In this round network has a new member from Iceland – Reykjavik University. Riga Medical College of the University of Latvia is remaining the position as the network coordinator.

 The common goal of the network partners is knowledge-building in Elderly Care education and training, combining competences of various study programs, and increase multidisciplinary capacities of healthcare educators and future professionals. MultiNEC network subject area is Health Sciences, with network partners representing the following fields of study – Nursing, Adapted Physical Activities, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Sports Sciences, Rehabilitation and Health Technologies.

Collectively, the combination of the aforementioned disciplines strongly contribute to the development of knowledge-building in health care and broadening of student and university staff know-how in Elderly Care. The aim of cooperation is to prepare highly qualified health care specialists for the labour market of the Baltic Sea region, who implement  ltidisciplinary approach in their daily professional activities.
