Nordsam –
The Nordsam Network was established in 1993. At the beginig main aim was health promotion among young people with subthemes–suicide, irresponsible sexual activity, alcohol and drugs. In 2012 the focus was turned towards health promoting dialogue with young adults in an intercultural perspective. These courses were very successful and resulted in new pedagogical methods in participating institutions. In 2015 the network teachers developed a new program, dedicated to Social Inequality–effects on children’s health in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The, subthemes in the course are mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse, overweight and child maltreatment. Intensive course in 2016 focused on nursing interventions in the same framework.
Network aims to continue on analogous topic, but with some improvements. The network wants to highlight prevention, nursing interventions, and health promotion of adolescents irrespective of the family’s social and living conditions. The program focuses on child- and school nurse actions in health promotion in Nordic and Baltic countries. Moreover, the intention is to develop a regional cooperation, build common knowledge and pedagogical approaches for students and teachers. The students will develop their collaboration skills, professional knowledge and understanding of the social and living conditions across the Baltic Sea region and how it affects the health of adolescents.
