Exchange of experience in the 5th International Week in Šiauliai State College, Lithuania

Within the staff mobility framework of EU ERASMUS + program from 16.04.2019 to 18.04.2019. Riga Medical College of the University of Latvia Staff – Inta Fedotova, Ilze Vanzoviča, Gunda Keiša and Anta Nasteviča went to experience exchange in Lithuania, Šiauliai State College.

The purpose of the trip was to get acquainted with the system of higher education in the health care sector, to visit the faculties of higher education institutions, to compare the implemented study programs, to get acquainted with the organization of the library, services and scientific activity, as well as to invite the participants of the international week to participate in the 6th International Scientific Conference organized by Riga Medical College with presentations and publications, as well as to delegate representatives for the conference organizational and scientific committees.

During the trip, Šiauliai State College Faculty of Business and Technology, Faculty of Medicine and their libraries were visited. Nursing Program of the Faculty of Medicine was discussed in detail. Information on study process organization, practice and possibility of obtaining a bachelor degree in nursing in Lithuania was reviewed. Exchanges of experience in the organization of library work and comparison of services provided and scientific activities have been compared. Within the 5th International Week of Šiauliai State College – “Mentorship – a Life-long Journey” in group work the positive and improving aspects of the Erasmus + program from the staff and student perspective and statistical data was compared. As well as the role and responsibilities of mentors (ERASMUS+ coordinators) at Riga Medical College of the University of Latvia and their cooperation with foreign students and lecturers were discussed.  During the International Week, there was an opportunity to get acquainted with the representatives from Turkey, Greece, Lithuania, Spain, Albania, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Belarus, Russia, Slovenia, and Portugal. Negotiations on co-operation opportunities with Karadeniz Technical University (Faculty of Health Sciences) in Turkey and the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Faculty of Health Sciences) in Spain have also begun.
