The Nordplus Norlys intensive course week ended

From 12th to 16th of March, the Nordplus-funded project Norly’s “The Elderly in the Future: Complementary Therapies and Ethical Concerns” intensive course week was held at the Riga Medical College of the University of Latvia. Intensive courses were attended by 40 lecturers and students from 9 collaborative partner universities in the Baltic and Scandinavian countries.

During the course, students from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Latvia presented research and data on the use of non-traditional medical achievements in the care of elderly patients in their own country, as well as the peculiarity of national culture at the joint event “Cultures and Traditions”. Participants had the opportunity to actively participate in both practical classes and lectures on CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine), to discuss the use and future development of non-traditional / alternative medicine, to find answers to topical issues within the framework of non-traditional medicine. Lecturers from Iceland (Thora Jenny Gunnarsdottir), Finland (Rika Levy-Malmberg) and Denmark (Marianne Krogsgaard Pedersen) shared their experience and knowledge, since courses are organized for the sixth year. Interesting was the vision of lecturers on non-traditional methods such as meditation, the use of natural products in rehabilitation, innovations in non-traditional medicine, massage and art therapy.

We thank the participants for participating and the great time spent together and all the adventures.
